Microblading and Powder Brows
What is Microblading, Powder Brows, and Combo Brows?
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment that places special pigments under the top layer of the skin to create realistic hair-like strokes. Microblading can be used to correct previously tattooed eyebrows or create and enhance eyebrows that have little to no hair. The end result is beautiful looking eyebrows that suit the client’s face.
Powder brows is also a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment that uses pin-dot pigment application to achieve an ombre look. Powdered brows have a soft makeup look and work great for clients with oily or mature skin.
Combo brows uses both microblading and powder brow techniques. This technique is great for those with normal to oily skin who have sparse eyebrows or little to no hair. Powder brows can give the brow more body, while the hair-like strokes keep it looking natural.
What can I expect during my visit?
A numbing cream is applied to the area prior to the treatment to prevent discomfort. Once the numbing cream sets in you may feel light scratches, sensations similar to tweezing or threading, or nothing at all depending on your pain threshold.
How many treatments are required for best results?
You only need one treatment to see results. A touch-up is required 4 weeks after the first treatment. After that, results should last one to three years, depending on your lifestyle and your skin type.
What is the downtime?
The skin around the eyebrow will appear red and the eyebrow will look dark immediately after the treatment. For the first week, we ask patients not to get their eyebrows wet and apply an ointment. By the end of the second week, the colour will lighten and skin will start to heal. You will see the full results after 4 weeks.
What is the difference between Microblading/Powder Brows and Tattoo?
Tattoos uses ink, which is permanent, and can fade over time to a blue-green hue. Tattoos can also look flat and drawn out because of the type of device used.
Microblading and Powder Brows on the other hand, is semi-permanent, and uses pigment. It creates an illusion of eyebrow hairs and soft powder that resembles a natural makeup look.
Is Microblading/Powder Brows safe?
Microblading and Powder Brows are both safe semi-permanent makeup treatments for clients with healthy skin.
It is not advisable for clients with skin irritations near the eyebrows like acne or eczema, allergies to ink and numbing creams, and taking blood thinners and certain prescription medications.
It is also not advisable for clients who have had a chemical peel, botox or dermal fillers injected into the area, or used retinol two weeks prior to the treatment.
