Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) for Skin and Hair

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?

Platelet-Rich Plasma or PRP therapy is a natural treatment for skin and hair that uses the regenerative and healing properties of Growth Factors in your own blood platelets. Separating blood cells and isolating plasma allows concentrated nutrients and platelets to be injected back into the skin to encourage healing and generate new tissue.

What can I expect during my visit?

A small amount of blood is collected from a vein in your arm. The blood is then spun in a special centrifuge to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood components. Once that is done, the plasma (PRP) is extracted from the tube.

Numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area for increased comfort during the treatment. Once the numbing cream has set, the extracted plasma will then be injected into the treatment area.

How many treatments are required for best results?

After approximately 3 weeks you will see improvements in the texture and condition of your skin. On your hair, results can be seen as soon as 3 to 6 months.

It is recommended to get 3 treatments every 4 to 6 weeks.  But some people may need multiple treatments to obtain optimal results for hair loss or for deep wrinkles and scarring.

What is the downtime?

You can go about your regular day after the treatment. But you must refrain from sweating and getting your hair or face wet. You can wash your face 6 hours after the PRP treatment.

You may see mild redness or in some cases bruising after the treatment. The redness should go away in a few hours and bruising should heal in a few days.

Are there any alternatives to Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP)?

To treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, and volume loss we also offer the following treatments:

  • Facial Acupuncture – Naturally boosts collagen production to reduce skin sagging and fine lines
  • Mesotherapy – An injectable that contains homeopathic medications, plant extracts, vitamins and other skin supportive ingredients that improve skin circulation and assist in rejuvenating the skin
  • Microneedling with Radiofrequency – A minimally invasive treatment that triggers collagen production in the skin resulting in improved skin texture and firmness
